Translation Portfolio Checklist and Sample Notes
Enuncia Global programme guidance · Updated 13 October 2026
A portfolio should make your judgement visible. A few relevant, well-explained samples can give a reviewer more usable information than a large collection of unexplained documents.
Use a short cover note for each sample
Record the source and target languages, intended audience, document type and your contribution. State whether it is a commissioned translation, a self-created exercise, a revision or a collaborative project.
Explain the permission basis for sharing it. Removing a name does not always remove confidential information: commercial terms, case details and document identifiers may still identify a client.
- Sample title and language direction.
- Subject, intended reader and purpose.
- Your exact role and any collaborators.
- Rights or permission to share.
- Tools used and a brief account of quality checks.
Show one decision in context
A terminology note is useful when it explains a real choice. For example, describe how you kept a product name unchanged while translating surrounding instructions, or why a term needed clarification. Use invented practice material when a client example cannot be shared.
Include enough source context for the decision to make sense. Do not present an isolated target sentence as proof that the complete document was translated accurately.
Make the files easy to review
Keep source and target clearly labelled. Use a readable layout and explain omissions. For a revision sample, distinguish the supplied text from your edits. For subtitling, distinguish translation work from timing and technical delivery.
The Network application accepts PDF, JPG and PNG uploads within the form's displayed limits. A PDF with a source excerpt, target excerpt and notes is a practical way to present a text sample. Do not submit encrypted or unreadable documents.
What to leave out

- Unapproved client names, logos or testimonials.
- Personal identity documents and financial records.
- Claims that registration certifies your qualifications.
- Work by someone else presented as your own.
- A paid project's confidential text without permission.
