Better briefs

Include a terminology reference before the first language handoff

By Enuncia Global ·

Clients often have terms they expect to see consistently, even when they have never created a formal glossary. A referral brief can identify these preferences before the project begins.

Ask what has already been approved

List product names, department names, recurring technical terms and words the client wants left unchanged. If an existing translation or glossary is available, note who approved it and which version applies. A reference should be identified clearly rather than mixed into the source as if it were new content.

Record terms that are still undecided or used inconsistently. Ask the client to identify a reviewer who can resolve questions. Do not invent a technical equivalent merely to make the enquiry appear complete.

Connect the reference to the deliverable

Explain where the terminology will appear and whether the project includes several related assets. A consistent reference can help connect a presentation, handout and video script when all are in scope.

Share authorised materials with the client's permission and let Enuncia review the actual requirement. A glossary is useful context, not proof that every entry is correct or a substitute for agreeing the project scope. Referral partners can support this preparation while keeping commercial commitments within their written agreement.
