Prepare a subtitle enquiry that goes beyond the language pair
By Enuncia Global ·
Subtitles need to fit a viewing experience, not simply reproduce a block of text. When a client asks for subtitles, a clear referral can identify the media, audience and delivery requirement before scope is discussed.
Describe the media and the requested output
Provide the video duration, source language, target languages and intended platform. Say whether there is an approved script, transcript or existing subtitle file. Mention multiple speakers and any on-screen text that the client expects to be translated.
Ask whether the client wants a separate subtitle file or subtitles embedded in a finished video. Include any supplied style instructions, character limits or file-format requirements. These are requirements for review, not services to assume are included automatically.
Make review ownership clear
Identify who can approve names, terminology and the final subtitle presentation. If the video is still being edited, explain when the picture will be locked. Timing work on an unfinished cut may need to be revisited when the source changes.
Introduce the project with permission and use an agreed media-sharing route. Enuncia reviews feasibility, scope and timing for accepted work. A referral partner should avoid promising that every platform specification or additional editing task is included without confirmation.
